Birthday Card

We had an intern this summer at work and her last day was a few days before her 50th Birthday --- we decided to combine both events into one party.

April 2011 Card

Our theme for this month was "Spring" -- I also picked up some new ribbon and stamps.

March 2011 Card Swap

This was my second card -- the theme was "Black, White, and one other color".  I had bought a punch to use on the edge and I was able to use a friend's Cuttlebug -- that's when I knew I had to add that to my "toolbox"!

My First Card

This was my very first card in our monthly card swap -- the theme was "Anything Goes".  When I look at this I am surpirsed that the girls allowed me to continue swapping with them! LOL!!

Another Birthday Card!

My friend at work has two kitties and since it was her birthday and we aren't supposed to buy gifts, I made a card from her "boys" to wish her a happy birthday along with the note cards that were made for her.  She loved it!

Birthday Card

This birthday card is for my friend Rita at work.  She loves the color red!

Shower Card

My niece is expecting her first child and this is the card that went along with her shower gift.

Wedding Card

Made this wedding card for the daughter of my husband's best friend.  The colors for the wedding were pink and green.  I love having the flexibility of matching colors to an event or a person's favorite things!

July Card Swap

This is the card I made for our July card swap -- we had to use twine and a charm.  I really like how this one turned out!

June Card Swap

This is the card that I made for the card swap I participate in with my niece and her friends in California, and with a scrapping/card making friend here in Michigan.  I actually didn't send it when it was due and sent it as a surprise instead.  My son was home from Kuwait on leave when the card was due and I just didn't have the time.  Our theme was anything that reminded us of summer or had to do with summer.  I love walking on the beach barefoot and the fireworks in the summertime.

Room Update!

Well, the painting is done and the temporary crown molding is up.  I also have a temporary work station in place.  We are saving for the desk I want and the futon/sofa bed for guests to sleep on. (While my son was home, we used a double-high inflatable queen bed that we use for camping -- it worked just fine.)  The chest you will see has yet to be sanded and painted, and I still have to sew curtains for the window and for the closet.  The last picture shows the card my kids gave me with my Cuttlebug for Mother's Day.  While helping me paint, my daughter asked how I picked the color and I relayed the story about trying to come up with something that wouldn't clash with the carpet.  it wasn't until I moved things in that I found the card and realized how much it matched the color on the walls and the color of the carpet.  Amazing, isn't it?

Sympathy Card

A friend's father recently passed away and I wanted to send a special card with my own words of sympathy. This is what the outside ended up looking like:

Color Time!

Well, here's the first coat up and on the walls.
Whatcha think?
  (Postive comments only, please! LOL)

Graduation Card

In between coats of paint, I made this graduation card for our friend Courtney's graduation party.  We have been friends of the family's since my daughter joined Courtney's mom's girl scout troop 11 years ago and we attend church together.  Poor Courtney broke her collar bone on the last soccer game of her high-school career two days before the party!

More Progress!

I have painted the ceiling a real pale greenish/blue - almost a Robin's Egg Blue.  Loving it!
I have also painted all of the trim to white.  This is really brightening up the room!

Craft/Guest Room

I will be using my son's old bedroom for a crafting/guest room.  We live in a modular home and to do this the right way, I am removing all of the 'strips' that were used to hide the wallboard seams, screwing the boards to the studs (they were just nailed on), taping and mudding the joints, scraping all of the texturing (popcorn) off the ceiling, and patching holes in the walls.  I know it is a lot of work, but it will be worth it!  Here are the before pictures:
The closet will shelves in it for boxes of things I'm working on as well as my tools.  I have a nice large window to let in lots of light.

My corner work desk will go here.  There's a swatch of color on the wall.  I can't change out the carpet, so picking a color was a challenge in itself!  My husband suggested this one and I love it!
This wall will have a bookcase on it.
I will have a couch/daybed/futon on this wall.  Not sure yet what will go in here, but it will have to double as a sleeping area for guests.

Goodbye Card

My co-worker and friend, Mary was leaving to move to Iowa to be near her family.  This is the card I created to say farewell from her co-workers.  We are going to miss her - she is such a special lady.  I am blessed to be able to call her my friend!

Birthday Card

Thursday was a tough day at work.  My friend and co-worker Mary was celebrating her birthday, but we were also having a going-away party for her.  This was a quick birthday card I put together for her.

Making Cards!

Now getting into making cards -- will have to wait to post my latest one until after the 'girls' in California get to see them at the swamp.
